WebRead reader
WebRead is an easy to use piece of software that can read to you from any Windows application. We recommend using WebRead for listening to Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files, Microsoft Word files and other document files. We recommend using Dixerit Plus for web pages.
Starting WebRead
To use WebRead follow these simple instructions (Internet Explorer only):
- To start the WebRead web page reader click on the "Listen with WebRead" icon. This appears on any page with links to download PDF or Microsoft Word files.
- This message will appear (Internet Explorer only):

Click "Run" and the WebRead software will download:
- The software will take a few seconds to download on a broadband connection, and a few minutes on a dial-up connection. You only have to download the software once per day and your settings will be remembered between uses.
- Once the download is complete this message will appear:

Click "Run" and the WebRead reader will start.
If you are using another web browser such as Firefox or Opera you will be prompted to download and save the WebRead programme file to your computer. Once the file has been downloaded, locate it on your computer and run it.
Using WebRead
WebRead is very easy to use and can be customised to suit your preferences. When you run the software you will see the WebRead controls appear at the top-right corner of your screen:

Reading PDF and Word documents
- Open the document you wish to have read to you.
- Move your mouse pointer to the place in the text where you would like reading to start, and click your mouse button.
- Click the WebRead play button.
Reading sections of text
- To listen to a section of text, highlight the text using your mouse and click the WebRead play button.

Exiting WebRead
- To exit WebRead and turn off the reader click the exit icon
